The SCH80/DIN UPVC/CPVC Ball Check Valve is a spring-loaded, non-return device engineered to prevent reverse flow in corrosive and high-purity fluid systems. Installation Guidelines
  • Orientation: Install with flow arrow in the direction of forward flow. For horizontal lines, the spring provides reliable closure. For vertical lines, install with upward flow direction only.
  • Upstream/downstream: Allow at least 5 pipe diameters of straight pipe upstream and 3 diameters downstream for optimal performance.
  • Solvent welding: Use primer and cement specific to UPVC or CPVC. Allow full cure time before pressurization.
  • Threaded connections: Apply PTFE tape to male threads. Hand-tighten plus 1–2 turns with a strap wrench.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect the seal and ball for wear or chemical attack, especially in high-cycle or abrasive service.
Critical Restrictions
  • Do not exceed 60°C for UPVC bodies. CPVC max 93°C continuous. Do not exceed seal temperature rating.
  • Not rated for steam service. Avoid rapid thermal cycling and sudden pressure surges.
  • Not designed for gaseous media — check valves are intended for liquid service only.
  • Spring material: Verify spring alloy is compatible with process chemistry to prevent corrosion and fatigue.
  • Avoid operation with high solids content or abrasive slurries that may damage the ball and seal surface.
  • Protect valve body from direct UV exposure. Use UV-stabilized material or apply protective coating.
  • Do not install in systems with pulsating flow that may cause rapid cycling and premature wear.
Field Troubleshooting
Valve does not close completely
Check for debris trapped between the ball and seal. Inspect seal for wear or chemical degradation. Verify spring is not broken or corroded. Replace damaged components.
Excessive pressure drop
Spring tension may be too high for the system flow. Verify valve sizing. For low-flow applications, consider lower spring force option. Check for debris restricting ball movement.
Chattering noise during operation
Flow velocity may be too low causing ball instability. Increase flow rate or install with a lighter spring. For pulsating flow, consider a dampened check valve design.
Leakage in reverse direction
Inspect the seal for damage or deformation. Verify the ball is seating correctly. For PTFE seals, check for cold flow at elevated temperatures. Replace seal if worn.
